Ang pagwawakas ng dalawang taong paghihintay sa loob ng siyam na araw. Ibinigay niya sandali, para ibigay sa iba. At ngayon, malapit nang magwakas ang lahat.

nine days
two years
it started as something exciting
something to look forward to
nine days of foggy mornings
nine days of bibingka
nine days of sacrifice
nine days of prayer
it was on that second time
things were different
intentions have changed
it was meant to open up
clear my soul
repelenish my source
reconnect with Him
and make two ultimate petitions:
is it right?
can I finally have her?
I don't know if He
answered the first
but it turned out to be
the right thing to do
join them
but after a year
I left
and now on my own
brand of their cause
the second one
came two years later
He gave too much
He really listens
and answers more than you've asked
at the rightn time
for He gave her to me
on the most trying times
the times I'm blinded by grief, anger, hopelessness
she's my light
she's my life
but now she's off to someone else
two years came
and ended too soon
here I am again
hoping to complete nine days
say my wishes to Him
entrust to Him everything
and wait for two more years
maybe He'll give me her again
or maybe someone else
no matter what or who it may be
I'd still be waiting
for that day to come
but for now
the two year wait
is over.
and all is over
after nine days.

Ilang beses man bumagsak, babangon at babangon pa din ako. Nauwi man minsan sa muntikang pagsuko, hindi ito aabot sa ganoong punto. Dahil sa bawat nabubugbog, nagsasawa din kakasuntok ang kaniyang kalaban.

panalo na naman siya
lahat ay nagdiriwang
pansamantalang tumigil
takbo ng buhay ng tao
nawaglit sa isip ang sandamakmak na problema
nagbigyang dignidad ang sira nang pagkatao ng mga Pilipino
kita natin kung paano siya binugbog
binanatan ni David si Goliath
at sa bandang huli
sumuko ang kalaban
nakikisimpatya ako sa kanya
'di dahil ayaw ko sa isa
kundi dahil may pagkakapareho kami
binubugbog ng mga pagkakamali
sinasapak ng tadhana
ngunit isa ang pagkakaiba namin
kahit pumikit na ang mata ko sa sobrang maga
kahit dumugo na ang nguso ko sa dami ng suntok
at kahit puro pasa na ang aking braso
'di ako susuko
pababayaan ko silang banatan ako
hahawak nalang ako sa lubid para 'di tumumba
yayakap sa kalaban para 'di niya ako masuntok
dahil magsasawa din sila
matatapos din ang mga round
at ang Lumikha ng lahat ang huhusga
kung sino ang naging tunay na kalugo-lugod sa kanya

The Overinflated Star

they lit up our skies
give life to a dull night
one is so close to us
makes us see all things
clear during the day
breathes in energy
to make all things work
seems to have never ending power
but it will all soon end
and with it we’ll end
it may be our friend now
saving us from freezing to death
giving hope to each day
letting us see the world’s beauty
live happy and in harmony
but not for long
tomorrow, it’ll wipe us out
become one big red giant ball of fire
it would consume all life on earth
robbing us everything we have
leaving no one behind
we all thought that it would last forever
but it wasn’t destined to be that way
and it will never be
so beware
for overinflated stars
wouldn’t just appear on space
it might be at your side
promising everything
giving you happiness
bringing in light to your life
till that day comes
after you gave your all
it will leave you nothing
bastardized
disgraced
betrayed
for you thought all along that it would last forever
it will never be
for all things will ultimately come to its end

The tenth in the series of poems. Nothing has changed since day one. And I hope we’ll see each other even if we’ll never meet.
They'll Never Meet

two planets shall see each other for days
completely aligned
almost close to one another
their light touching each other
yet, they'll never meet
she's the goddess of beauty
he's the most powerful and mighty god
yet she shines brightly but him,
slowly fading
it's as if she gives light to him
and she doesn't know it.
he cannot reach out to her
no matter how hard he try
or how many journey he'll take
they'll never meet
he can't do anything
but adore
and hope to meet her
to touch her
to hug her
to kiss her
to love her
and sadly, this conjunction would end
they'll part their ways
yet they'd never meet
and she'll go back
for he's just a passing
'cause she's enamoured
with that bloody planet
though he's powerful
he can make things happen at will
create and destroy everything
but it's all useless
for he cannot tel
nor command to love him
and forget that red planet
he'll just wait for the next thousand
or million years to come
to see her again
even if they'll never meet again.
